Prison protest

Pauline Campbell arrested (Pic: Guy Smallman)
by Pauline Campbell
Around 25 people demonstrated outside Holloway prison in London on Wednesday of last week. They came to protest over the death of Karen Ann Fletcher, 30, who died in October while in the prison.
Karen’s death was the fourth at Holloway since April 2004.
At around 3pm a prison van attempted to take prisoners into the jail. We blocked it on the grounds that it was unsafe to allow prisoners to be taken in.
About 15 police officers arrived on the scene. I was arrested for alleged obstruction and released without charge after two and a half hours.
