Join the International Peace Conference
The Stop the War Coalition is calling for delegates to the first International Peace Conference on 10 December 2005. The conference will bring together anti-war activists from across the globe, including the US, Britain and Iraq.
John Rees, vice president (Europe) of the Cairo Conference, told Socialist Worker that the event is an opportunity for all progressive organisations to chart the future of the anti-war movement.
He called for all peace campaigners, trade unionists, the congregations of all faiths, non-governmental organisations, progressive campaigns, community organisations and political parties to send delegates.
The conference has received backing from Tony Benn, MPs Jeremy Corbyn and George Galloway, Caroline Lucas MEP, journalists John Pilger and Tariq Ali, and MSPs Tommy Sheridan and Colin Fox.
Organisations backing the conference include the Stop the War Coalition, CND, the Cairo Conference and Iraqi Democrats Against Occupation.
