This collective of singers, songwriters and a socialist magician was formed out of the Occupy struggle against austerity.

Midnight’s Children

This film adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s 1981 Booker prize-winning epic goes on general release from 26 December. It uses magical realism to tell the story of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in the decades after independence.

The film is visually stunning. It is controversial in India because of its hostile portrayal of dictatorial ex-leader Indira Gandhi. But viewers who haven’t read the book may struggle to follow the plot.
