BREAKING: Unite union's local government sector rejects pensions deal

The Unite union’s local government sector committee has voted to reject the “heads of agreement” on the government’s pensions offer. A majority of delegates at their meeting today (Monday) voted for rejection.

Two of the three Unite sectors involved in the public sector pensions dispute have now rejected the deal. The third, for workers in the Ministry of Defence and other government departments, is set to meet on Wednesday of this week.

Unite members now need to put pressure on their union representatives to call more industrial action. This is the only way to defeat the Tories’ pensions attack.
