Solidarity campaigns in Glenrothes by-election
by Carlo Morelli
Activists were out campaigning for Solidarity candidate Louise McLeary in Thursday’s by-election in Glenrothes, Fife, as Socialist Worker went to press.
Once Labour would have been confident of a walkover, with its majority of over 10,000. But it is now in trouble and coming under threat from the Scottish National Party (SNP).
Yet the SNP candidate is leader of the local SNP/Liberal council which has overseen the rise of charges for disabled and elderly people’s social care.
Time and again people have told us how disgusted they are with Labour and the SNP. They feel they have been let down by both.
Solidarity has brought a message of resistance, hope and change to Glenrothes.
