Jobs threat TEXTILE firm Courtaulds is to slash more than 600 jobs at three of its factories. The company wants to axe factories in Bolsover in Derbyshire and Wishaw in Lanarkshire, Scotland. It also wants to slash around half the workforce at its lingerie factory in Middlesbrough. Courtaulds was recently taken over by Sara Lee, which also owns the tights manufacturer Pretty Polly. Bas Morris, the deputy general secretary of the knitwear, footwear and textile workers' KFAT union said, "Our members are angry and upset and we plan to fight all the way." |
